Also, do make certain you reach a safe distance - it's always a little further than you think. When you place the explosive, be sure NOT TO TOUCH IT until it explodes you can knock it on its side and it will roll away. You'll hear a loud crash, and be close enough to look in the sky for the smoke trail grab an Explosive Jar and Sandstone Foundation and chase it down. Kill the NPCs in the camp there, maybe set up a Wheel of Pain and take hostages - there's always a fighter and a random other thrall there, and two different named/unique fighters. When you start up your game, find something else to do for a couple hours but regularly check back at your base and hang around. Cold resistance is going to be necessary, but more important is having access to the top of that ridge since climbing it is a bit of a bear.
